My car survives Portland and more!

Thursday, December 21st, 2000

What can I say?  I love my car, and so does everyone else I show it to.  I drove Carl and Megan up to Portland, and the car handled admirably.  It’s also VERY fast.  I won’t say how fast, because my parents read this page occasionally and I don’t want to worry them (sorry mom and dad!)  At any rate, it’s a great car, and everything on it works.  I just can’t get over that. All the buttons and gizmos do what they were designed to.  The only things I can find wrong are that the turn signals don’t cancel automatically, and the unlock button on the driver’s side doesn’t work.  It does if I push it a lot and wiggle it, which leads me to believe that I can clean it out and it’ll work again.  Nice.  I also convinced the nice guys at The Car Stereo Store to install my old CD playin’ deck from the Camaro into this puppy.  I made sure to swipe that out of the Camaro when I sold it, don’t worry.  Anyways, the guys at The Stereo Store are cool.  They let me watch Gladiator on the DVD player while they were working on my car.  Did you know that they make DVD players for cars?!?  Six-disc changer, too!  That’s a long trip!  They finished faster than they estimated, too.

Anyways, Portland was fun.  I took Carl and Megan up with me, as I said, and we met up with Hilary and Sean at Lloyd Center where we had lunch.  We went to the Portland Saturday Market, rode the MAX, looked at Christmas lights on Peacock Lane, ate Chinese food, and went bowling.  It was a ton of fun, and I think we all had a great time.  The drive home was fun.  Dodging fog, ice, and state police, Carl and I made it home safely.  We left Megan in Portland.  Megan, if you’re reading this I’M SO SORRY!!!  No!  Just kidding!  We gave Megs a lift home to Portland, and I’m sure she appreciated us leaving her at her house with her nice cat, huge dog, and her folks.  Everyone I saw that day loved the car.  =D

I love my new car

Saturday, December 16th, 2000

All I’ve got to say is I LOVE MY NEW CAR!!!  That Daytona I was talkin’ about?  Well, I up and bought it this afternoon.  I got $2000 in trade for my Camaro, which went towards the new Dodge Daytona Shelby and paying off the rest of the Camaro loan.  This new car is great, and I’ll get some pics up as soon as I take some pictures and get them scanned (I need a digital camera!)  Naturally I’ll write more about this as news develops.  It’s hella fun, and unlike the Camaro, IT’S FULLY FUNCTIONAL!  Just like the Death Star.  No planet-destroying weaponry, thought.  At least, not that I’ve found.  This car has more buttons, switches, rockers, levers, and knobs than that Taurus did!  It’s decked out!  Really soft leather seats!  Cruise!  The heater and A/C work!  Everything does and it’s got it all!  I love it!!!

Let’s see, what else did I do today… 😉

Oh yeah!  I hung out with my totally awesome friends from school.  We had a great time and saw both of the Bill and Ted movies.  We had pasta for dinner and everyone liked my car.  Wonderful times with wonderful people all.  Since I know these people will be most-likely to read this page, I’ll just take this time to tell you all that you’re the best!  Keep up the good work.  =)

Car news!!!

Friday, December 15th, 2000

Well, as I said in my last update, I’ve been car questing.  I’ve found a wonderful little car!  I have yet to buy, but it’s a 1991 Dodge Daytona.  Don’t laugh.  It’s Turbo Shelby series.  2.5L 4cyl, and boy does it HAUL!  I love it!  5-speed manual.  I wanna buy it.  I’m going to look into it tomorrow.  Maybe I’ll buy it, who knows?  If they give me a good deal on my trade-in, I think I may.  If not, I’ll have to sell my car myself, which is a major pain in the ass, and I’d rather not have to.  My goal with this project was to find a car which was more reliable, which means newer.  This car is a 1991, where my current car is a 1987.  This car’s also a stick and has fuel injection, which I also enjoy.  The fact that it’s a Turbo is more of an added bonus.  =)  I’m very excited about this, so unless you have a REALLY good reason to, don’t go bursting my bubble, K?

What else?  Well, today I did some shopping, hung out with Christy, played some video games, and watched a movie with my friend Sara.  Gone In 60 Seconds.  Fun flick.  I also updated my web page some more.  Notice that this news entry also has a time stamp as well as a date stamp.  Nifty eh?  I plan to continue this way from now on.  For more updates, try actually looking at the page, moron!  Just kidding!  Chris loves you!  Tomorrow I plan on hanging out with my totally awesome friends from school.  We’re going to have a ton of fun as always, I’m sure!

“God’s in his heaven. All’s right with the world.”

“GOD’S IN HIS HEAVEN. ALL’S RIGHT WITH THE WORLD” Good quote. Felt like having something in capitals at the beginning of each section of my News page to sort of set the theme, as it were. On with the show.

Well, more news time. Not really much to add in the way of “news”, but I felt like writing so here I am. I’m listening to Michael Jackson’s “Bad” right now on mp3. What world we live in, eh?

I’m in a pretty good mood right now. I’ve really got no major worries right now, and that’s good. I was a bit worried in previous days, but those worries have cleared up today, so now it’s all good! I’m goin’ out to lunch with Christy tomorrow after her last final as a bit of a celebration. Speaking of worries, after that, I’m gonna go to the library to read some Consumer Reports on used cars. I wanna find out what a reliable car I can get would be, theoretically. I bought the Camaro as a result of a long winding road and ending with nearly impulse. My next car will be much more thought-out. The Camaro, while fun, is quite worrisome. I want a car I don’t have to worry about so much, even if it costs more in monthly payments. It’s all the same. I believe car cost to be a conserved quantity in the universe like mass/energy or momentum, i.e. if I buy a cheap car, I won’t spend as much on monthly payments, but I will spend more on repairs and maintenance. If I buy an expensive car, ideally it won’t break as much and thus the other costs will be less, but the monthly payments will be higher. Either way, I figure it works out to cost about the same for either, but one has less headaches and worries. But enough about that.

I’m thinking of starting a philosophy section of this website for the sake of my ranting. I feel a need for a creative outlet for writing, but I think my News section would get pretty big and random if I did that. I dunno. I think I’ll keep my writing here for now. I mean, who cares if my News page gets huge. Who reads this page anyways? It’s my page, and I’ll do what I want with it. That’s what it’s for.

Have a great day!

More Kim pics!!!

Monday, December 11th, 2000

Well, I’m home now. It’s hard to update a website over a modem but I manage…

Kim finally sent me some more pics yesterday! I’m so excited–she hasn’t sent any since May. I’ve spent the last hour or so updating the Kim Pics section of this web page for your enjoyment. If anything doesn’t work, be sure to e-mail me so I can fix it. I’ve also taken the liberty to add a miscellaneous pics section for some pics I found laying about my directories on the server. I figure as long as they’re there, I may as well make them accessible.

As for me personally, I’m doin’ great. Not really sure what I’m doin’ today, but I’m sure it’ll be fun. I’m not scheduled to work this week, and that’s both good and bad for obvious reasons. It’s good in that I can sleep and lounge about, but it’s bad in that I’m not earning much-needed cash. Oh well. Nothing I can really do about that. I told them I’d be available to work until the 6th of January. At least I can spend lots of time updating silly web pages like this one. =)

Moving day

Friday, December 8th, 2000

Today, I move out of the dorms and back home with mom and my brother.  It’ll be a nice vacation, but I know I’m going to miss my friends here.  I’m planning on visiting them sometime during the break, so that’s all good.  Right now, I should be packing, but instead I’m working on my web page.  Go figure.  As you can tell, I’ve added a news and info page as my main frame now.  Hopefully this will get updated fairly frequently.  I plan to just add new stuff to the top, so this page may get rather long.  I may start removing entries from the bottom if that happens.  But hey, that’s in the future, so why worry about it now?  It’s been a decent day–I got my paper finished and turned in, and then I went out for Chinese.  I’m all about sweet & sour chicken!  The leftovers are in my little fridge.  Gotta remember to unplug that before I leave.  I’m planning on defrosting it over the break.  It needs it.  Gotta pack.  I may write more later.
