Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

Wednesday, October 26th, 2005

No real reason for the headline. Just the song I was listening to at the time.

Lessee, what’s gone down since I last posted? Oh yeah, Megs and I went up to Portland for the weekend on a spur-of-the-moment trip to scout out wedding locations. We left Burbank Friday night after work and came back Sunday evening. Luckily dad was in town Friday so he gave us a lift to the airport. Megs’ folks were kind enough to put us up for the weekend, so that was our base of operations. Mom drove up Saturday and the five of us drove around Portland for most of the day and looked at various churches. We settled on a nice new church near Megs’ folks’ place in SE Portland and we’re currently in discussion with them to get a finalized date and other details worked out.

Weddings are a lot of work to plan, so I can certainly see where the “until death do us part” bit comes from–I sure don’t wanna do all this again! 😉

This weekend is Megs’ birthday, so we’re gonna go down to the island of Catalina and see what there is to be seen there. There’s a ferry that leaves Long Beach in the morning and comes back in the evening that we plan to be on. We’ve never been there, so it should be fun. =)

Last Friday I went to the doctor’s office for a physical and I just got the blood work results back yesterday. Turns out I’m in good health, so how ’bout that? His only recomendation was to get a little more mild exercise. Not bad, not bad. Also on Friday, I took my car in to the shop and FINALLY got the turn signal fixed. Turns out there was a broken wire somewhere in the system that was causing all the problems. I have a sneaking suspision that I didn’t even need the stupid ellusive part, but oh well. It’s fixed now and that’s what matters.

Lastly I’d just like to report that I am now finally level SIXTY in the World of Warcraft. This is as high as the levels go in the game, so I am not All That Plus Chips in a Bag or something like that. There’s still plenty to do in the game, so right now I need to amass lots and lots of gold to do the elite mount quest. People complain that Pali’s get a free mount, but it’s not really “free”. True, our elite mounts are a quest reward, but the quest costs a lot of money to complete. Some is in the form of an actual cash donation to someone or another, and the rest is in the form of expensive components. It still totals less than your average elite mount (800+ gold, I think), but after taking into account all the legwork involved, it’s not as great as folks think.

So yeah, that’s me. How all y’all doin’ out there? Been quiet lately. Leave some comments or something.

Searching for Content

An idea I just stole from Wells’ site is to show what words people have searched the net with and then ended up here:

winamp logo
haircut pics
8-bit theater
eagle pics
talum mexico
chris brunner
pics of mexico
chevy camaro pics
camaro pics
8 bit theater
trujillo peru
sand wrestling
dodge daytona pics
short haircut pics
wild party pics
evil tower
frankfurt international airport
penny arcade
wild parties

Ah, the memories! All those wild parties and trips to Mexico. Maybe next time I’ll post what sites people were at before coming here. =)

It’s been raining like crazy down here, but rest assured that we have not been washed away in the mud. Personaly, I enjoy the rain because it reminds me of Oregon. I also enjoy watching the native Californians freak out when it happens.

I finally got the part I “needed” to fix my car, but alas it did not resolve my issue. Back to the drawing board, I guess. At least this time I can tell my mechanic that the switch isn’t the problem. I’ll keep you posted on this, cuz I know how much you care!

Lastly, I’m now level 59 in World of Warcraft. It only goes up to 60, so I’m really close to the top! Rumor has it that they’re gonna up the limit to 70 when the expansion comes out, so I’m trying to make it to 60 before that happens.

Hello, computer… TRANSPARENT ALUMINUM!!!

Now with spell check!

Monday, October 10th, 2005

I’m going to try something new with this entry and that is to type it up in an actual word processor first and thus be able to spell check before posting. I’m usually pretty good about catching typos, but I’m afraid to go back through the past five years of news posts and spell check the lot of it. Can you believe it’s already been almost five years of this stupid site? This December, it will be. How many of you have been lurking since the beginning?

In actual news, Megs and I went back down to Long Beach last weekend to hang out with the extended Brunner family. Dad, Uncle John, Uncle Paul and Aunt Mary were all down there to celebrate Grandpa’s 86th birthday, where we had some excellent chili and sandwiches for lunch. Afterwards Megs, Dad, John, and I all went over to John’s semi-demolished house to make use of the still-functioning hot tub. Totally worth it.

On Sunday, Megs and I just did some clothes shopping down at the Galleria. I got six pairs of socks and two pairs of pants. Megs got more. I kinda spaced out after carrying bags for a while, but I seem to recall that her purchases were nice. 😉

And now, your moment of random. Might have to wait a sec for the sound to load to get the full effect.

Take Me Where I Cannot Stand

Uncle John called me the other night and asked if I could post something here, so I am happy to be of service. Especailly since Megs and I enjoyed his excellent hospitality last weekend when he took us to a very nice restraunt and a very nice movie. Anyways, a little background: A new CBS show called Criminal Minds shot some parts of an episode at John’s house and on his street. This episode was originally slated to air Oct 12th, but is now airing tomorrow, the 5th. John wanted to let folks know of this change in case they were intending to see it. For those not already in the know, there’s a scene of a garage and a scene of a lawn, both of which are his. There’s also a large explosion on a porch, which is his neighbor’s place.

Backing up a bit, let’s discuss Saturday’s activities. The morning began with Megs taking the LSAT. She believes she did well and she certainly gave it her all. We’ll find out the scores in about six weeks. After the test we went down to LBC where we met up with John and went to a really cool restraunt with excellent amounts of quality meat to eat. After the massive meat munch we went to visit with Grandma and Grandpa Brunner for a bit before heading off to the theater.

“The theater? What movie might you be seeing?” I can hear you ask. The epic “Serenity” was our quest and I must say the film was quite excellent. A good movie in its own right, it was quality science fiction story (not just action or westerns in space, as Orson Scott Card says), and of course it was great to see all my favorite Firefly characters again. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, shame on you! I’ll forgive you if you are waiting to finish watching Firefly first, but you’d better have started it!

Sunday was pretty relaxing, aside from my PC’s power supply deciding to flake out. I ended up getting a new 500W one from Fry’s so we’ll see how that goes. Other than church at 17:00 and Olive Garden for dinner afterwards, it was nice to just hang out.

[EDIT: 10-04-05 22:39] There is now a nicer picture of the ring posted.
