Star Lords

Tuesday, May 30th, 2006

Ever heard of Star Wars? How about the Lord of the Rings? Ever wish they were combined into a movie trailer and music video? Jaqcues showed me this this other day, so now you all must see it. Make sure you keep watching until at least two and a half minutes in.

Coming Back Online

Friday, May 19th, 2006

I’m gradually bringing things back online here on the site. Today I reactivated the ever-so-useful bio page and the guestbook. I’m really pleased with how the backend and interal workings of the site are coming together as well as the new outward appearance. The site is now making heavy use of cascading style sheets (CSS), with an emphasis on the cascading part. Lots of inheritance going on. The PHP is also much cleaner than in previous versions of the site. Even the SQL is more stream-lined.

I’m considering this site 6.0b now. And yes, there have been 5 other revisions of this site over the last 8 years. Of course, back then it was “The Official Chris Brunner Homepage” and it was hosted over on EFN. It was also all written in straight HTML and using Netscape 3.0 or something.

In actual non-webpage news, Matt’s gonna be hanging out at our place this weekend before he moves back up north to Oregon for the summer. Since his blog is offline, consider this the latest news of his life. He’ll be living in Eugene until mid-August when he starts grad school at UC Santa Cruz. Anyways, tonight we’re going to go see Over the Hedge at the Burbank theater. I’ll let you know what I think about it after I see it.

Well, what do you think?

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

Well, I’ve made some good progess on the old web site here. As you can see it looks a bit different. I don’t remember the exact date of my last major cosmetic overhaul, but I know it’s been a couple years. Anyways, obviously I don’t have everything up and running yet, but I do have the core parts working: the blog and comments. So, please let me know what you think of the new design and such. I’m interested to hear your feedback. I’ll go into more detail of things in a later post once I’m done. I’ll even talk about E3 once I get the pics working again. =)

Website Issues

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

You may have noticed a few problems with my web site lately. You may also have recently noticed that my site looks a bit different. It’s in the process of a complete rebuild from scratch. This might take a bit, so please bear with me. I’m going to slowly bringing the systems back up (like comments, pics, and the like), but it’s gonna take some time. Once the comments are up again, please let me know what you think of things.

New Alliance Race

Monday, May 8th, 2006

I’ve seen what the new World of Warcraft Alliance race looks like and I still have no idea what it is. It’s a race of gray-blue bi-peds with tails and glowy blue eyes. They also have some kinda tentacle-like beard thing goin’ on, making them look like they’re from deep beneath the sea. I would have taken a picture but the big screen at the Blizzard booth at the E3 setup didn’t show up good on my cell phone. I’m sure y’all will hear more about it in the next couple days once E3 officially starts. Also expect to hear more about the 1.11 patch and the expansion, both of which will be content heavy. All this I gathered from the nifty trailers they were running at their booth while they got the A/V equipment set up.

For once I know something nerdy before Slashdot, Fark, and Penny-Arcade! =P

Wedding Update

Sunday, May 7th, 2006

As the headline suggests, I’ve updated the Wedding Blog with some new information. Included are some links to stores we are registered at as well as some directions to the church and an address. I’ve also put up a link to some hotels in the area–just a simple Google Maps thing. Anyways, for those who care, go check it out.

In other news, Megs is almost over her cold, so we actually ventured out of the apartment yesterday to do a little shopping. Got some more RAM for the ol’ home PC bringing me up to a whopping 2 GB total. Also got some new shirts courtesy of the nice Sears gift card got me for my birthday (yeah, yeah I know it was a while ago), and they’re really nice. On sale too, so I was able to get a lot. Mom taught me well. =)

This week is E3, so I’m gonna be busy with that for most of it. I’ll try to post updates from the event for those who are interested in reading about what I’m seeing there. Monday is setup, Tuesday is the calm before the storm, and Wednesday and Thursday I’m helping man the booth for half a day each. Friday I’ll hide somewhere, no doubt, and try to regain my hearing. That place is LOUD!

Work Busy for E3

Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006

Next week is the Electronic Entertainment Expo, a.k.a. E3, the biggest video game industy event of the year, and five years ago I don’t think I even knew it existed. Last year I was excited to finally be attending, and this year it’s actually a big part of my life at work. It’s kinda weird to have something go from unknown to mythic event to reality to mundane so quickly. Not that I’m not still looking forward to it, but now it directly impacts me in my day-to-day existance at work, which is strange when I think about it. We’ve got very little time left to get everything together for the show, so we’ve all be “crunching” to get things done up right. E3 is a big deal, so everything has to be shiny and ready for the press. For those of you who are interested in E3, but are unable to attend yourselves, check back here later next week for my E3 post. I’ll take some pictures this year, too.

In other news, Megs has caught my cold even as I try to shake the last of it myself. She’s been home sick from work today and yesterday, so please send her all your best wishes to get well soon.

Word on the street is that Jacques and Other Megan are going to be moving to our part of Los Angeles in about a week and a half or so. Megs and I are quite excited to be seeing more of them over the summer. We can do adorable things like couples’ brunches and stuff. 😛 Matt’s still not sure what he’s doing this summer last I checked. Oh, and since Matt hasn’t updated his site in quite some time (and it appears to be down at the moment), I’ll give y’all the quick rundown if you haven’t heard: Matt’s been accepted to grad school at Oregon, Washington, and Santa Cruise, the latter of which he is going to be attending in the fall. Kudos to Matt for getting in! Oh, and Megs has already posted about this on her LiveJournal, but in case you haven’t heard, she has been accepted to a law school! Western State College of Law has agreed to teach her their ways, although Megs is still waiting to hear back from a couple more yet before she signs away her soul.

That’s the news about me and my peeps. Keep cool, everyone.
