It’s about time

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

So, I’ve finally started reading “Dune“. I guess I was tired of everybody giving me crap for never having read this science fiction classic. I’m only about 100 pages in so far, so don’t spoil it for me, but so far so good. I’m enjoying the dialog, the details, and the world. Lots of characters to keep track of already. I can see that Robert Jordan got a lot of his inspiration from this book. “Dune” also has a bit of an Asimov feel to it as well, which of course I like.

I’ve heard that other books in this series are not as good as the first. Any recommendations along those lines?

Lone Video

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

I’m just going to keep posting until someone leaves me a comment. So there.

Here’s the only video I managed to record in England last summer before my DV camera stopped responding:

Oh, the Drama!

As put it, “The most dramatic five-second video involving a chipmunk you’ll see today”. Make sure you have sound turned on when viewing.

And we’re back!

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

Some of you may have noticed that this site (and it’s child sites) were down for a few days there. Seems to be back up again now, obviously. What happened was the old k-net site was being bombarded with comment spam, which ate up all my bandwidth. I’ve since shut down the old site, thus crimping off any more crap like that. I hope, anyways.

In other news, Megs and I went off to Oregon last weekend. We saw a whole lot of family: Megs’ folks (Susan and Erv), mom, dad, Estelle, Matt, Kim, aunt Jeanne, uncle Brent, uncle David, grandma and grandpa Gallagher, and cousins Bethany, Anna, and Marissa. We also saw Morgan, Mirm, Laura, Tegan, Molly (two of them!), and probably some other folks I’m forgetting. I took some pictures, so I’ll try to post them soon, too. As usual, the trip was too short and too rushed, but it was still great seeing everyone!

Let’s Go Bowling

Monday, June 11th, 2007

Good grief, it’s been a while since I last posted! So sorry!

Last Friday Megs and I went bowling down in Hollywood at the trendy Lucky Strike Lanes with a bunch of folks. We had the usual Matt, Anna, and Cindy, but this time we had a bonus Adam and Jacques! We all met up at our place and then walked to the subway station where we took the train to Hollywood and Highland, which is right where the bowling alley is. So much easier than driving and parking for seven people! The bowling alley was cool, cuz not only did they have decent food, but also a DJ and a full bar! Kinda pricey, but fun times for once in a while. After bowling we went to Mel’s Drive-In to get some dessert, then back to our place for more drinks and a little Guitar Hero.

Speaking of Guitar Hero, check out this web-based “spin-off” for those who think GH is ezmode. The site is in Danish, but I’m sure you’ll work it out.

The rest of the weekend was pretty relaxing for Megs and me, which is good cuz next weekend’s gonna be busy. We fly up to Portland Friday morning, and back Monday afternoon, spending time with various family and friends all weekend. We’ve got Kim’s gradumacation, mom’s birthday, and several Father’s Days. Busy, busy! Our apologies in advance if we aren’t able to visit all the friends we would like to.

Oh yeah! One more thing from last weekend worth mentioning–Jacques got a cool car! Apparently he has some well-off relatives with one car too many, so Megs and I drove him out to Santa Monica on Saturday to pick up his ‘new’ 1994 Cadillac SLS. This isn’t it, but this is what it looks like. He now has the dubious honor of having the biggest, pimpin’-est car in our little circle of friends. Good times.

Wow, this post was sorta all over the place. Usually I go fairly chronologically, but this time I went back, forward, then back again. What can I say? Sometimes I just gotta be a badass rebel blogger.
