Rockin’ and Rollin’

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Well, looks like it was time for another earthquake. They’re calling it a 5.4, and we’re all fine down here. It was pretty noticeable up here on the 3rd floor of our office building, especially since the building is on some kind of earthquake rollers. But yeah, we’re good. Megs sent me a note and she’s fine too, even though she’s way down in Orange County.

Carry on.

Back from the Con

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

Just got back from the Con, and man are we tired! Didn’t get much sleep Thursday night, but Jacques and my adventure on mass transit down to meet Megs (and her car) after she got out of class worked out well. We spent the night at Jacques’ friend Ron’s house outside the city then drove down to the convention center early in the morning.

After a few hours checking out the main exhibit floor, we went to go see Joss Whedon’s panel, which was awesome. See Kelly’s comment in the previous post for the blurb about the panel. After that panel was the American Dad panel followed shortly by the Family Guy panel. There’s some overlap in the cast and crew of those shows, and both panels were a lot of fun. After that we got in line for the Venture Brothers panel, or so we thought. The line was RIDICULOUSLY long! So long that we never got in for the VB panel. Or the Robot Chicken panel in the same room right after it. But the line finally got us there just in time for the MST3K 20th anniversary reunion panel, which was worth the wait. The panel was hosted by Patton Oswalt! A very pleasant surprise.

Anyways, after that we drove home. Very tired now. Here are some pictures. Good night.

Headin’ South to Nerd Out

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

In just a few hours, Jacques and I will be taking mass transit down to meet Megs in Fullerton after her night class gets out. From there we will take her car all the way to San Diego for the famous San Diego Comic-Con!!!

I’ll be taking a vacation day from work tomorrow to spend Friday at, as Wil Wheaton calls it, the Nerd Prom. Speaking of Wil, perhaps we’ll bump into him there and say hi. We’re also hoping to catch the Venture Brothers panel at 17:30 and get some signatures and/or art from the Penny Arcade guys and others. We’ll be taking lots of pictures, so expect those when we get back.

Excelsior!

Two to Tango

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Two years already? Seems like it was only yesterday I was melting in a three piece tuxedo. As they say, time flies when you’re having fun.

Happy Anniversary, Megs!

The Dark Knight

Oh my God. GREAT movie. Go see it. Like, right now.

Happy Birthday, Kimi!!!

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Today is my little sister’s birthday, so have a happy one, Kimi! Sorry I won’t be able to make it to your sushi thing tonight, but I’ll be damned if I’m gonna drive through downtown L.A. for a dinner appointment at six. I’d have to leave, like, now or something. Anyways, have a good time! Hopefully not as “good” as last year…

Cake
PS: No this was not our cake. It’s just a funny picture I found on the internet.

Nifty Device!

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

I got a new toy today! It’s called the Turtle Beach AudioTron, and it’s awesome! What it is is a stereo component that goes in, say, your living room. Then you plug it into 1) your stereo and 2) your home network, and BAM! Suddenly you can play all your mp3s on your computer in the living room! How sweet is that? It just looks for fileshares on the network with music and then it streams the music to the stereo. Has a remote control and everything! Damn cool.

Some future stuff: this weekend Megs and I are looking after Matt and Anna’s dog. Next weekend, we’re going to the world-famous Magic Castle with some friends of mine from work. The weekend after that we’re going with Jacques down to the famous San Diego Comic-Con! I’ve wanted to go for years, so now’s the time! If anyone else who reads this thing is going, we’re gonna be there Friday, so drop a line and we’ll try to find you in the thousands and thousands of people there.

Second week in August Megs and I are gonna be with mom, Matt-donut, Grandpa G., and maybe Kim and Uncle David up near Yosemite. I haven’t been to Bass Lake since I was, like, seven, so this should be fun. Gonna learn me how ta water ski! Woo hoo!

I think that’s about it for the summer, but that’s enough, I think. I’ll keep you posted as interesting things develop. Lastly, since I get more comments when I post a picture, here ya go:

So we finally got the digital negatives back from the professional photographer for our wedding. I guess there’s some kind of escrow that if we buy them before two years is up, they’re hella expensive or something. Anyways, what matters is we now have over three hundred high-res digital photos from our wedding, so if anyone wanted prints but missed out on the opportunity, now’s the time! Here’s a sample of one I have at my desk at work right now:

Fun Times

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Dad was in town earlier this week, so on Tuesday I took a day off work and hung out with him and various other family members. At around 19:00 or so, we met up with Kim at Disneyland and this was the result:

This weekend is Grandpa Gallagher’s 80th Birthday Party, so Megs and I will be down in Long Beach on Saturday. Happy Birthday, Grandpa!
