Back in Eugene/Springfield

Friday, December 26th, 2008

We made it safely down from Portland into Springfield yesterday. Lots of family, good food and good times. Internet connection right now is kinda flaky, so I’ll keep this short and post pictures later. The weather here is just rainy and cold. No more snow and ice, which is good. We’ll be in town until next Tuesday, the 30th.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Snowed In

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

Well, here we are up in Portland, and if you’ve been following the news, you know that it’s been crazy wintery up here.

As you can see, dad’s car is immobile at the moment. Sorry dad. We’ll try to get it dug out by Christmas so we can get back to Eugene/Springfield. Hopefully the weather will have improved by then.

But anyways, we’re doing fine just hanging out here at the house. Megs’ folks still have power and gas, so we’re warm an entertained; we’ve been watching a lot of movies. Also, the Safeway up the street is still open, so we’re plenty stocked up on food. We’re having pork roast for dinner tonight!

Hope everyone is well and warm wherever they are. Happy Winter Solstice!

Arrived in Eugene/Springfield!

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

As the headline shows, we’ve made it to our destination in Oregon. Our train ride was quite nice and I Twittered the hell out of it. Lots of little micro updates along the way there. Anyways, it’s really cold out up here in the northwest. Still snow on the ground and another storm on the way. Sara was nice enough to give us a ride to dad’s place, despite the poor road conditions. Dad’s due in later tonight, again weather permitting. Why does Christmas have to be in such a poor travel time of year? Megs and I took a lot of pictures from and on the train, so I’ll post those soon as I get a chance.

Again, if anyone in Oregon wants to say hi, please drop me a line!

Northward Ho!

Monday, December 15th, 2008

In about nine and a half hours, Megs and I will be boarding a train heading up north back to Oregon for the Holidays. The trip is scheduled to take about 26 hours, which is about twice as long as it takes to drive there. However, this way I don’t have to drive and meals are included. Should be fun, too! I plan to take lots of pictures of the lovely scenery along the way.

So anyways all you Eugenians and Portlanders, if you wanna get in touch with Megs and/or me, give a ring. We plan to be in Eugene from Dec 16th to the 18th or 19th, then Portland for about a week, then back to Eugene from the 25th to the 30th. My phone number hasn’t changed in eight years, so if you still have me, that’s probably the correct one. 🙂 I’ll be Twittering from the train via my cell phone when I get service, so if anything interesting happens, I’ll post it there.

See you on the other side!

Wishlist updated

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

Once again, I have updated my wish list with a few more things: some replacement arrows for my DDR pad (they’re cracking), and some replacement Roomba parts, so the robot can keep our place clean for us again.

Thanksgiving 2008

Monday, December 1st, 2008

Last weekend was the Thanksgiving holiday, and I had a very nice one. Donut was visiting and he made Megs and my apartment home base for his operations last weekend. There was some Warcrafting, you can be assured.

Thursday Megs, Matt (Donut), and I went down to Long Beach to celebrate Thanksgiving lunch at Uncle John’s place. I stupidly forgot the memory card for my camera at home, but dad let me borrow his so I was able to take a few pictures.

After lunch Megs, Matt, Kim and I went over to the Gallagher household for another Thanksgiving dinner that couldn’t be beat. More good food and good company to be sure. Mom, Grandma and Grandpa were all there. We caught most of Akeelah and the Bee on TV, too. Cute little family film.

On Friday I hung out with Matt and Megs, and later Kim and mom showed up. We played Catan, but unfortunately Kim won this time. Saturday was a bit more low-key and on Sunday Matt and I went back down to Long Beach for more family time before he had to head back up to Santa Cruz this morning.

Whew! Busy, but a nice time all around. =)
