More Pictures from Christmas 2008

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

The subject says it all, really. I’ve posted more pictures from this last Christmas and I’ve broken them up into galleries: Train ride north, Springfield, Portland, Wine & Cheese Party, Train ride south. I’ll be posting a few more soon from last weekend’s Christmas 5.0 down in Long Beach, but that should tide folks over for now. =)

Home Again, Home Again

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

A little late, but better than never I suppose. We made it back just fine on the train. Practically on time, even! Took lots of pictures on the train, both northbound and southbound. Also took lots of pictures while up in Oregon, so I hope to get those all processed and posted soon. For those who can’t wait, I’ve posted the pictures from Kim and Mirm’s Wine & Dessert Party, as I promised (threatened) many people I would. Please note that these are not ALL of the pictures from the night, just the least incriminating. I’ll save the others in case someone runs for elected office someday and I need money.

Pictures Finally Posted

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

As Kelly pointed out in her most recent comment, I had failed to post the rest of the pictures from our little Nov 8th gathering. Well, I shall fail no more, for the pictures are now posted!

In other news, there’s not much else going on these days. Just work for me and school for Megs. I’ve been playing a lot of World of Warcraft, so there’s that. Doesn’t make for very exciting blogging, however. Next weekend is Thanksgiving, and our plans are to visit family in Long Beach and eat good food. Simple enough. =)

Yet Another Link Fest

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Once again I feel that I should post some sort of update, but I have no idea what to write about. Not a whole lot going on, really.

Last weekend Megs and I watched Across the Universe and The Prestige with Matt, Anna, and Tim. Both good movies we’d been meaning to watch for a while now.

This coming weekend is both Halloween and Megs‘ birthday, so we’re watching Alien and Aliens on one night and doing dinner (and maybe Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection, if we can stand it) on another, again with the usual suspects.

In more geeky news, I’ve figured out how to put DVDs onto my iPod for the upcoming Christmas trip, so I’ve been encoding many a m4v file. My PC can encode in roughly real time, so it takes about as long to watch a movie as it does to prepare it for my iPod, but that’s OK. We’ve still got some time until we leave for Oregon.

Oh! And that reminds me, Megs and I got ourselves a nifty device for watching movies on the train, rather than on the little iPod screens. Don’t let the price scare you–we got it on clearance at Best Buy for little more than half that. Also, in the non-traveling season we can use it as one of those nifty digital picture frame things.

Lastly, I didn’t carve this. Just found it on the Internet, but somehow it spoke to me.

Happy Halloween!

The Subprime Mortgage Primer

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

I came across this via BoingBoing a few minutes ago and I thought it summed the current financial situation up pretty concisely using bad stick figures:

The language is a little rough, but I think it conveys the appropriate information.

Slacking with the Blogging

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

Sorry it’s been so long since my last post. After the blogstravaganza at the beginning of the month, it just sort of petered out for me and all the others.

Still, things have been a-happening! First off, for the Friday of Memorial Day weekend, we got the usual crew together to go see the new Indiana Jones flick. To make a long postmortem discussion shorter: it was all right. Not quite the magic of the original movies, but still enjoyable.

On Sunday we had a wonderfully successful party at our apartment complex involving the whole gang, plus our neighbors. All told, we had about 14 people at our place at once, which is I believe a new record. I took some pictures. I was really happy to get the neighbors involved. They’re close to our age and it felt a bit like the old dorm setting with people roaming from apartment to apartment. Good times.

On Monday I got a new camera. It’s my favorite new toy. Bought it with my monies from the gov’ment. Takes excellent pictures and uses all my old lenses from my 35mm film camera.

This past weekend, Megs’ folks came down for a visit, giving me plenty of opportunity to make use of my new camera. On Saturday we went up to visit mom where I took some loverly pictures. It was really nice to spend some time with family.

Apparently, People Love our Furniture

Well, I got more comments on that picture of our new curtains than Megs has on her last three posts all together. So in continuing on this theme (and because we’re comment whores), here are some pictures of our new wardrobe-coat-closet-thing that we got last week:
