Did I mention I had pneumonia?

Tuesday, July 17th, 2012

A couple weeks ago, I came down with bacterial pneumonia, and let me just say that I don’t recommend the experience. It started Friday morning (the 22nd) when I felt like crap, but went to work anyways hoping to shake it off. That didn’t happen, so I left a little early and took it easy at home the rest of the evening. I had a mild fever of approx 99-point-something. The next day I felt worse and my fever reached 103.3, so then it was hospital time! Yay! You know how much I love sitting around waiting in a hospital, not knowing what’s wrong. I had a good bout with anxiety while waiting for results, but after a chest x-ray and about an hour (it felt like days), they told me I had bacterial pneumonia. I literally replied, “Pneumonia? People still get that?” Still, I felt much better, cuz now at least I knew what was wrong with me and it was totally treatable with antibiotics and heavy-duty ibuprofen.
The next couple days sucked and I just moped around feeling miserable, but my fever broke Monday evening and I felt much better after that. I took the rest of the week off and watched a lot of movies and played a lot of video games. By the second weekend (the 30th or so), I was starting to get on Megs’ nerves with my cabin fever. We were both happy for me to go back to work on Monday the 2nd.
The only bright side of the experience was the nice messages I got from friends and family. Also, dad got me a balloon:Get Well Soon Balloon

Life Moves Forward

Sunday, July 31st, 2011

Last week Megan took the California State Bar Exam, so all those years of study and months of prepping have come to a head. Now we play the waiting game; Bar Exam results won’t be posted until November 18th! Still, it’ll be nice to be able to go out on weekends again.
In other news, my current employment is still awesome. I love working on so many different projects doing different things. Last week I got to troubleshoot some audio problems with a professional-grade mic set up. It’s amazing the differences between consumer-grade and professional-grade audio gear, and I’m not just talking quality. They use a completely different signal! I had no idea. I love learning new things!
Lastly, I went to Disneyland a last weekend with Molly L., Chris W., and Kim B. Here’s a picture of us mugging for the camera in front of the castle:

Under the Wire

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

March is almost over, but I had to get at least one post in here before the month’s end!
Work’s been going well. Busy, but good busy. As usual, I can’t go into detail, but I’m still super psyched to be working for Imagineering.
Honestly, I’m writing this on my iPhone in bed during commercial breaks of Conan, so this isn’t much of a post. I’ll write a longer one tomorrow, I promise!

What's With All the Horses?

Monday, August 24th, 2009

When a person is driving through the vast boring wasteland that is the I-5 corridor, one has time to think about many things and irritate his passenger with these random thoughts. Mine was this: What’s with all these horses?
I mean, think about it. Whenever you’re driving along the interstate through farm country or along some rural highway, you eventually see horses. Like, lots of them. This begs the question: why? Why are there so many horses in this day and age? I discussed this with Megs while we were driving and the explanations of farming, riding, and hobbies came up. But really, are there enough well-off people out there who can afford horses as pets? They ain’t cheap to keep, from what I understand. And as far as for actual farm work, even the smallest farm can afford a Jeep or small 4×4 RV for getting around on. Even so, how many horses does a working farm need to operate?
It just seems that keeping horses is such a niche pass-time, yet there are hundreds and hundreds of horses just viewable from urban areas and roads. Are they really that popular? Is the 4-H lobby really that powerful? Please let me know if I’m way off-base on any of this.

Post a Picture Week – Day 6

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

We live about 2 miles from Universal Studios: Hollywood (not actually in Hollywood), so Megs and I decided that the Universal Citywalk would be a great place for some nighttime neon photos. We took the subway down one stop to Universal City and hopped the tram up the hill. After taking our photos and getting some dinner, we decided to walk home instead of taking the train again. A lovely evening constitutional!

Going Away

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Pretty sure I mentioned this briefly a little while ago, but next week I’m gonna be off on summer vacation up at Bass Lake, which is near Yosemite National Park. Going up with Megs, Matt, Mom, and Grandpa Gallagher. Kim’s supposed to be joining us later, too. Should be a nice relaxing time away from it all with little to do except learn to water ski.

Picture! Picture!

So we finally got the digital negatives back from the professional photographer for our wedding. I guess there’s some kind of escrow that if we buy them before two years is up, they’re hella expensive or something. Anyways, what matters is we now have over three hundred high-res digital photos from our wedding, so if anyone wanted prints but missed out on the opportunity, now’s the time! Here’s a sample of one I have at my desk at work right now:

Megs and Me

Missed it by That Much

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

Weeeeell…. it looks like I may have missed a couple of days of posting, but then, so have most of my cohorts. I’ll try to keep going anyways.
Right now, Megs and I are up in Crestline helping Mom move. Again. This time to a more permanent house over near Lake Arrowhead. We’re currently filling boxes and putting them in a U-Haul. At least, that’s what everyone else is doing. I’m stalling by writing a blog entry. Soon, someone will notice what I’m up to and make me go work, but I’m in no rush. =)
Tonight Megs and I will be heading back to The Valley to hang with Matt & Anna. Sort of a celebration of the end of Megs’ spring term of law school. After all this moving of boxes, it’ll be nice to sit back with a beer and relax.
All right, gotta go. Stay strong, America!

Megs is Done with Finals

The headline says it all, really. So yay! Grats to Megs for completing another term!
Now, it’s time for a little Team Fortress 2! =D
